Building the Public Voice on Housing Choices in San Mateo County

Who:   YOU!  This is a unique opportunity to express your point of view during an important moment in time when the cities of San Mateo County are charged with updating the Housing Element of their general plans.    Threshold 2008 invites you to participate in a “Community Conversation” on housing choices. This is the third phase in our non-profit civic engagement initiative to bring the public voice into housing policy decisions in San Mateo County. With a growing shortage of housing projected over the next 10-20 years, our elected officials need to know what solutions the informed public will support to sustain our communities.    Anyone who lives and/or works, or desires to live and/or work in San Mateo County can participate in a Community Conversation.

What:  A Community Conversation, led by a facilitator, is designed to engage a broad cross-section of the county’s residents (and employees) through a series of structured group dialogues focusing on housing.  The Conversations are being hosted by various civic organizations and other groups throughout the county.

During the dialogue, participants are presented with a range of issues and choices around housing, and asked to dialogue together in small groups about these choices.   Your viewpoints will be included with the many diverse voices of people who have already joined us and presented to civic, community and elected leaders in San Mateo County.

Where: Peninsula Conference Center, Suite 100, 1700 South El Camino Real, San Mateo

There is no charge to participate in this community workshop.   Parking is free and complimentary refreshments will be served!
